ClimateLocated in the Southern Hemisphere, Reunion has a tropical climate, softened by the proximity of the Indian Ocean. The temperature on the coast varies between 18°C and 32°C. Each area has its own microclimate but it’s sunny all year round. Summer, from November to April, is hot and humid with temperatures averaging 30°C. At higher altitudes, the temperature varies between 15°C and 24°C. Winter, from May to October, is cooler, with temperatures averaging 20°C. At higher altitudes the temperature may fall as low as 4°C and rarely rises above 25°C.
LanguageEnglish is the official language with French and Creole being widely spoken.
VisaAs of 01 March 2013 South African passport holders no longer require a visa to travel to Reunion Island for short stays of up to 90 days.

The approximate flying time from Johannesburg to Reunion is 4 hours.
